For me the annual Congress/conference has always been a highlight of the year, where you get to connect with people who you have not seen for a long time and get to hear a wide range of great ideas that expands your thinking. It is important to have this opportunity and to share your experiences over the last year. Some of our colleagues are doing it tough as they deal with issues in their businesses and personal lives. Connecting with others is critical. These grants offered by CALI are a great opportunity for female risk advisers to re-connect and develop in the company of like minded people. I encourage you to apply.

Had a very insightful discussion with Hon. Charmaine Williams about the important role financial literacy plays in advancing women's economic opportunities in Ontario. Financial literacy is the key to empowerment because it provides women the tools to financially survive, thrive and reach financial independence.✅ We discussed how to improve the barriers women face in accessing financing for their business. This very much aligns to the research project I did with WEOC / OEFC. If you haven't read Bootstrap or Borrow, I encourage you to. https://weoc.ca/survey/✅ We discussed the type of financial education women in shelters need to break from trauma. ✅ We discussed why so many women-led organisations and financial institutions are falling short in supporting women with financial capability. We are both very committed to ensuring women have the tools they need to thrive financially. We have some great ideas brewing.Watch this space! #financialliteracy #womenandwealth #financialservices #financialwellbeing #financialcapability

Thank you Sarah King for leading on this campaign in the UK calling onHM Treasuryto reverse the decision to so dramatically increase income thresholds for angel investors (from salary of 100K to 170K). 👇 Very proud to be one of the signatories on behalf of TechFoundHer calling for an inquiry into how the Government reached a policy decision that excludes so many women (who earn lower salaries than men) from angel investing.Diversity of founders matters and to achieve this we need diversity of funding streams and funders. The changes to angel investing regulation (increasing salary threshold from 100K to 170k) will dramatically reduce the number of women able to invest in startups with an estimated fall to near zero of women eligible in some places like Northern Ireland (with lower salaries). This is shocking – we can’t afford to shut down this crucial support stream. As women founders we face an eco system riddled with gender stereotyping and cultural and structural bias – having the opportunity to look to other women to angel invest is crucial. Women are often called the ‘missing’ entrepreneurs but we are here but often not ‘seen’ as investable by a male dominated investment community -we can’tafford to ‘miss out’ on the important channel of looking to other women for funding for our startups. This matters not just for the economy but our society and world. As Sarah King says "Now should be a time for progressive policy making."#herwealthherright#overbeingunderfunded #TechFoundHerGabby Jahanshahi-Edlin Elizabeth Varley Carol Long. New findings from the annual ERSI report on Ireland’s Women in Finance Charter reveals progress in female representation across the financial services sector. The number of women on the boards of financial services firms rose to 39% this year, up from 35% in 2022, while female representation on executive committees also increased by 4%. The continued progress is testament to the significant work undertaken by firms across the industry to accelerate their gender balance journey. However, with only 1 in 4 firms in the sector having a female CEO, more work lies ahead to accelerate change in key-decision making roles. Explore our roadmap to see how your firm can advance its gender balance journey: https://lnkd.in/ep-eAvh5#GenderBalance #Finance #LeadershipIRELAND FOR FINANCE Ireland's Women in Finance Charter Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI)
